Capstone Visual’s expertise extends beyond just the hardware into the underlying video processing as well. From custom video processing, video analysis, to gamma table calibration, our engineers have the knowledge to develop and implement a solution.
IR Video Processing
The pictures below show processing that enhances features in infra-red imagery in an Army truck. The left image is the raw analog IR data with a reported 10-bit resolution. In the left-most image, the words cannot be read due to very small temperature differences between the background and lettering. The center image shows one set of processing coefficients that allows the words to be read on the upper sign but the smaller (and hotter lower sign) is still illegible. The right image shows a different set of coefficients that makes the lower (hotter) sign readable.
Video Signal Analysis
We also apply our experience to many video analysis efforts. Shown below is a set of eye-wall measurements for a video signal through a “custom” cable at 800×600 to 1600×1200 resolutions.
Gamma Correction and Human Vision
Our expertise extends to the photons as well. Besides the video electronics, we understand the human vision system side of the equation. With a calibrated measurement system, our custom software defines the gamma tables necessary for our controllers to do adjustments for color space corrections that account for both the LCD panel color filter response for either full-spectrum or NVIS backlight emission spectrums.
